Welcome to the Island
of Jersey . . .

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands and is situated close to the coast of the Cotentin peninsula of northern France.

Jersey was, at one time, part of the Duchy of Normandy and so a French influence has remained in the Island although we have been British for more than 800 years.

Jersey has been famed for its beautiful beaches and scenery for many years and this alone has attracted countless travellers to its shores. Once on the Island, there are may historic sites to visit including two fine castles - Mont Orgueil dating from the 13th century and Elizabeth Castle which was built during the reign of Elizabeth l and named in her honour by the island's Governor at the time, Sire Walter Raleigh. There are forts and award winning museums, the fascinating War Tunnels, gardens and specialist flower growers like the Eric Young Orchid Foundation, La Mare Vineyards, the Jersey Pottery and, of course, the world famous Jersey Zoo. Jersey is also a popular offshore finance centre and a culinary oasis with hundreds of restaurants and cafes serving fresh Jersey produce, fish and seafood.
